Friday, September 26, 2025 during 5th hour
📍Audition Location:
High School Art Room
Performance Dates:
December 5th, 6th, & 7th, 2025
🎙️ About the Play
Step back in time to the golden age of radio, where the magic of storytelling comes alive through voices, sounds, and imagination. It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play transforms the beloved holiday classic into a 1940s radio broadcast, performed live on stage.
Actors bring dozens of unforgettable characters to life, shifting seamlessly between voices and personalities to paint the world of Bedford Falls entirely through sound.
Meanwhile, a live Foley artist creates everything from doors slamming to footsteps crunching in the snow — adding texture and energy that makes the story leap from the stage into the audience’s imagination.
This unique performance style invites audiences to experience the story in a whole new way: not only following George Bailey’s heartfelt journey, but also enjoying the playful artistry of voice acting, timing, and sound effects that make radio theater such a one-of-a-kind holiday tradition.
🌟 Roles Available
Main Cast (5):
George Bailey – The warmhearted everyman who struggles between duty and personal ambition. (Male, mid-20s to 40s)
Mary Bailey – George’s loyal, compassionate wife with a strong inner strength. (Female, mid-20s to 40s)
Clarence – George’s quirky guardian angel who is eager to earn his wings. (Male, flexible age, light comedic tone)
Mr. Potter – The stern, greedy antagonist of Bedford Falls. (Male, older voice with authority)
Announcer/Narrator – The guiding voice of the broadcast who sets the tone and transitions between scenes. (Flexible, strong vocal presence)
Additional Roles (2):
Live Foley Artist: (On Stage) Creates all live sound effects for the performance — doors closing, footsteps, glass breaking, sneezing, etc. A fun and creative role for someone who enjoys timing, rhythm, and inventiveness.
Secretary (Non-speaking Role/ On Stage): Sits at the studio front desk, assists with “Applause” and “On Air” lights, and helps the cast and sound person during the show. A vital behind-the-scenes presence that keeps the performance running smoothly.
